Workhorse Brewing Company, a New Hidden Gem in the Philly Suburbs

Workhorse Brewing Company is the newest brewery to open up in King of Prussia, PA. Located at 250 King Manor Drive, it is truly a hidden gem in the Philly suburbs! We recently went on a Workhorse Brewing Company tour led by Dan Hershberg, co-founder and CEO of Workhorse Brewing Co. We remembered talking with Dan a few years back when we did a story on his popular Philly T-shirt business, Philly Phaithful (read the full article here).

Once seated, you can press the button on your arm rest for service and your waiter or waitress will come right over to take your order!

Another Nor’easter Didn’t Stop People from Attending the 3rd Annual Philadelphia Restaurant Festival

A wicked winter afternoon in March was the start of another Nor’easter! But that didn’t stop Philadelphians from attending the 3rd Annual Philadelphia Restaurant Festival which was held at the beautiful Crystal Tea Room at the Wanamaker Building. This year’s Philadelphia Restaurant Festival did not disappoint with over 60 restaurants, wineries and distilleries participating.

Dish of the Week | The Godfather | Deli on 4th

This week’s Dish of the Week is The Godfather from Deli on 4th. This delicious specialty hoagie is made with capicola, genoa salami, soppressata, prosciutto, sharp provolone cheese, roasted red peppers and then topped with lettuce, tomato and onions. It is one of eight specialty hoagies available in an 8 inch or 12 inch size. Deli on 4th is a well-known local favorite breakfast and lunch spot located on the corner of West 4th Avenue and Fayette Street in Conshohocken.

This week’s Dish of the Week is the Crispy Salmon from Dishez. This crispy salmon entrée is served with hollandaise sauce, mushroom risotto and pickled cippolini onions. It makes the perfect light summer dinner. Dishez just opened this past March at 551 Germantown Pike in Lafayette Hill. It offers tasty American cuisine with a French flair. The owners, Peter and Renee Liccio, also own the nearby Market of Lafayette Hill and Knishes & Dishes as well.

Dish of the Week | Smoked Salmon Bagel | Tradestone Cafe

This week’s Dish of the Week is the Smoked Salmon Bagel from Chip Roman’s Tradestone Café (117 Fayette Street). The bagel is one of Tradestone Café’s six breakfast sandwiches and is served topped with cream cheese, smoked salmon, cucumber slices, tomato slices and onion on a sesame seed bagel. The Tradestone Café is open every day of the week from 6:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. serving breakfast and lunch.

Dishez Set to Open in Lafayette Hill on March 3rd

Dishez, a new restaurant in Lafayette Hill, will be opening this Saturday, March 3rd to the public. Dishez offers American cuisine with a French flair. Some appetizers and entrees that they will be offering include Smoked Mozzarella, Olive Oil Poached Trout, Airline Chicken Breast, Strip Steak (pictured above) and a Bourbon Short Rib Burger. Don’t forget to bring your favorite wine or beer with you since Dishez is BYOB.

This week’s Dish of the Week is the Smoked Pulled Pork from Flanigan’s Boathouse. This toasted sandwich includes smoked pulled pork over baby spinach, roasted peppers and provolone cheese on a Kaiser roll served with apple au jus. It comes with your choice of French fries, rice, cole slaw, house/Caesar salad or the vegetable of the day. Flanigan’s Boathouse is a casual restaurant on 113 Fayette Street in Conshohocken.

This week’s Dish of the Week is the New Lafayette Sushi Roll from The General. This colorful sushi roll is made with spicy tuna, shrimp, mango, avocado, black tobiko and spicy mayo. The General restaurant is a concept that was created by Nick Ciaffone and Bob Devine, who are partners at The General as well as at their other restaurant, From The Boot. “We consider our menu representative of a ‘modern American’ theme with something for everyone, and we have renovated the space to create a more contemporary feel while tying in the historical aspects of the building.”

Explore Philly had a blast at Skippack’s 8th Annual Winetober Fest. The event took place on an October weekend and we chose to attend the Saturday daytime session. Skippack, PA is an adorable small town located in Montgomery County. With lots of little shops, restaurants and bars, the quaint town offers a lot of things to check out. We picked up our entrance passes, wine cup (attendees could upgrade to receive a wine glass with the VIP passes) and were off to sample all the wines!
